DESIGN TEAM

Firstly, we would like to thank all of the lovely ladies who took the time and effort to enter our “Search for a Design Team”.  Everyone’s work was of such a high standard that it made choosing our Design Team a very difficult job indeed.  If only we could have chosen you all!!  So, without further ado, we would like to announce our Imagination Factory Design Team……

RETREAT 2009

It is with much excitement that we are finally able to take formal bookings for the Imagination Factory 2009 retreat.

It’s officially here today – Winter!!  And what fine weather for scrapping.

Tomorrow sees Fiona & I head off to Brisbane for the trade classes, where we will learn some new techniques and create with new products ready to bring back to pass on to you.  We will also be taking the CRICUT machine with us for a service, so it will be unavailable for customer use until Saturday 6^th June.  Apologies for the inconvenience, but it really is overdue for a service.

INTERNATIONAL TUTOR

Only one week to go until we have the pleasure of Lance Anderson, from Rusty Pickle (U.S.A) come to the store to teach two awesome classes.  At only $65 per class, it’s fabulous value, and places are filling fast.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to take a class with an international tutor, right in our very own town – Ballarat!

~International Tutor To Visit Ballarat~

We have just received the most exciting news and just couldn’t wait to share with all our scrapping friends!

 

Lance Anderson, International tutor for RUSTY PICKLE, is coming to Ballarat to teach! Lance will be at The Imagination factory on Monday the 8^th of June to teach not just one, but two fabulous classes, straight from the

U.S.A.

This is a super cool black & silver 6x12” album.  Papers used are from the newly released “brass Knuckles” range and the album would be a great one to use for photos of teenagers especially, but also kids & young adults.. All product is included in the generous class kit, with lance providing his expert tuition free of charge!!

 

Class 2: Way Cool Pop Star Album

Date: Monday the 8^th June

Time: 5pm-8 or 9pm

This album really is Way Cool! It’s a 6x12” Portrait orientation album, using the black & white Pop Star range of paper .  It’s full of doodling & color and is fun & bright, suitable to scrap all types of pictures. Once again, the cost is for the fabulous product pack, with free tuition by Lance!

 

At both classes, tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided and there will be a great Lucky Door Prize too.

MAY UPDATE

We have so much news to share. Hmm. Where to start? Amazingly I have managed to post more frequently than previously. Only three weeks since last blog update, down from over a month last time! Still could be better I know, but at least we're heading in the right direction.

For those of you who are on our email list you will have already received our email newsletter, so bear with me if I am repeating myself. For those of you not on our email list that would like to be, simply send an email to imaginationfactory@bigpond.com and we will add you on!

CLASSES

June and July calendars are available in store already. They will be posted on the website over the next few days. There are still a couple of places left in tomorrow nights "Heidi Swapp" layout class. Check out the fabulous layout inspired by Heidi herself in the previous post under May Classes and if you're interested phone the store tomorrow to secure your spot.

INVITATIONS

We now stock a fabulous range of A4 card stock, specialty papers, vellum and embellishments specifically suited to invitation making. There are papers to suit all occasions and plenty of samples for inspiration.

THE FACTORY SUPREME

Designed by the super talented Fiona Leehane, The Factory Supreme is just like "Pizza with the Lot".

Included in the kit are enough card stock, patterned paper, thickers, mini alphas and embellishments to make 4 fabulous layouts. The kit comes with full colour instructions for all four layouts, and is priced at only $50. Check it out on the blog or in store now.

SEARCH FOR A DESIGN TEAM

The time has come for the Imagination Factory to find a design team. If you are original, creative, talented, passionate and looking for a challenge, then read on.

The successful applicants will hold their position for 12 months, commencing 1st July 2009. Each design team member will receive a product pack bi-monthly chosen by myself, with which to create layouts, cards, invitations, OTP to be displayed in the store for a period of time. Successful applicants will also be entitled to a store discount while a D.T member. Work will generally need to be completed within 2 weeks of receiving product pack.

If you would like to enter, then please submit 2 original layouts and either 1 card, invitation or OTP project to the imagination Factory in person by 5.30pm on Tuesday 9th June. All work must be original and not scraplifted or inspired by anyone else. Entries will be judged by the Imagination Factory staff and successful applicants notified before Saturday 13th of June. Full design team member job description is available in store. Good luck!!

CRICUT DEMO

We have some great special deals on cricut and cuttlebug machines running until the end of June. These are advertised in all the current Australian scrap booking magazines. If you are considering investing in a Cricut then keep an eye out for our upcoming free cricut demo. Date to be announced!

CROP NIGHTS

Our crop  nights are held alternate Friday nights from 6pm till midnight, and have been so popular lately that we have been fully booked weeks in advance.

With that in mind, could you please be considerate and let us know ASAP if you are booked in to a crop night and will be unable to attend. That will then enable someone on our waiting list to come along in your place.

WINTER HAS ARRIVED

Well, not officially, but we have finally welcomed the arrival of some decent rainfall, and along with it some very chilly weather.  Good weather for staying indoors and scrapping, I say.

I feel very bad that it has been over a month since our last blog post, so I have made it my number one priority from here on to post more often!

OLD NEWS

NEW NEWS

We have been madly unpacking, pricing and displaying loads of new stock over the last few weeks.  Our favorites include Basic Greys two new ranges, Heidi Swapp Invisibles, Crate Papers three new ranges, and great new American Crafts papers and Thickers.

Over the next fortnight, we will be hopefully unveiling our gorgeous new range of invitation papers, matching cardstock, and envelopes, along with samples to give you a source of inspiration.

BASIC STAMP TECHNIQUE CLASS

For all those who want to know how to use the various inks and stamps this is a great class.  Learn the foundation techniques for stamping, including both dye and heat embossing, use of chalks, watercolors & pens, & stamping on a range of different surfaces.  Make a little sample book and two cards with the techniques learnt.

Bushfire Appeal

We are pleased to announce that we donated  $220 from our crop night proceeds to the appeal. As we made our donation through Coles Myer they matched it dollar for dollar( to make it $440).

We would also like to thank all of our wonderful customers who donated scrapped 12" layouts,  ready to add photos,  to Sarah Gladmans Bushfire project. We have posted them off & they will eventually be distributed to all families who have lost their home. So thank you once again ladies.

 

New Stock

We have finally received our shipment of cuttlebug & cricut stock that we have been waiting for for so long. There are some great dies, embossing folders, and also "cut & emboss sets", definitely worth checking out.

As well as the new Bazill swiss dots cardstock, we also have a range of Bazill smoothies cardstock, which is untextured & ideal for stamping.

 

Clearance Items

Check out our clearance table, located in our workshop area. All stock is reduced, some marked at well below HALF RRP.

As an added bonus until the end of April we will take an extra 10% off the already reduced price of ALL clearance stock! So call in & grab a bargain.

Class Calendar

Another month has flown on by, and here we are almost at the end of Summer.  We are all deeply saddened by the tragedy of the Victorian bushfires, and the loss of so many lives.  As a small gesture we have donated last Fridays crop night fees to the bushfire appeal.  For those ladies interested in helping out further, please check out Sara Gladmans blog  http://sares1911.wordpress.com/….She is asking for volunteers to make memory albums to donate to families who have lost their homes, and the Imagination Factory is registered as a drop-off point.

FEBRUARY CHALLENGE

On a brighter note, there are still 10 days left to submit a layout for Februarys challenge.  Just in case you missed it, all you need to do is scrap a page (or Off the Page) all about YOURSELF.  It’s that easy!  So get scrapping ladies to be in the running to win a $10 Imagination Factory Gift Voucher.

We’re particularly loving K&Co’s new Amy Butler range, it’s floral and feminine and oh so gorgeous.  As are the new autumn leaves and Rouge de garance collections.  “Snips & Snails” has also arrived and is perfect for little boys!  Our range of Bazill is continuing to expand, with the first release of Swiss Dot.  And for those that like to try something different the coredinations whitewash cardstock comes in a gorgeous colour range and is lots of fun to tear and distress.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

January may be half over already, but HAPPY NEW YEAR! And what a wonderful year it is shaping up to be.

If you haven’t visited our new store, at 402 Main Rd, then pop on in!!  I called in myself today and its looking absolutely wonderful, thanks to Sues hard work during my annual leave.  New stock is slowly starting to arrive. Most suppliers seem to be having large backlogs to deal with since returning from xmas closure, so we’re trying to be patient.  Also, all the new releases are about to happen at CHA in America at the end of the month, which should hopefully start arriving Feb to April.

Along with the new store, the New Year, and having been in business nearly 12 months, we thought it was a good time now to review shop procedures.  Some are new, others remain unchanged, but here they are for reference anyway.

 

HOLDS

All items may be held for a strictly 5 days maximum.  If a customer does not return to either purchase the product or lay by the product, then it will simply be returned to the shop shelf after 5 days.

 

LAY BYS

A lay by information sheet is given to customers on placing a lay by. These conditions include 10% deposit, fortnightly payments and strictly 8 week maximum duration.  Any lay bys not collected after 8 weeks will be returned to the shelf and a $10 fee will be kept.

 

CLASSES

Class bookings will now only be taken after a $10 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit has been paid.  If a cancellation is made more than 24 hrs prior to the class, then your $10 deposit may be moved to another class or used for a product.  If you cancel less than 24 hours prior to the class or if you do not attend, then the $10 WILL NOT be transferred.

 

CROPS

We have unfortunately had to increase the cost of our crop nights to $12 – per person.  We believe this is still however fantastic value for money and are looking forward to Friday 30^th Jan 2009 for our first crop. Please remember to book in and please also phone if you have booked in and are unable to attend.

 

LOYALITY CARD

We currently offer customers a very generous loyalty system, where a stamp is given for each $10 spent and when the card is full with 20 stamps, the card can be redeemed for $20 of product at the next visit.  The card is only stamped for product purchased, not classes attended, and it is also not stamped at crop nights as a 10% discount already applies to products purchased during classes and crops.

 

CASUAL SCRAPPING

We have found lately, especially with our state of the art workshop and huge range of equipment available for customer use, that the workshop is getting lots of use by ladies popping in to use the punches, stamps, cricut, zutter binder etc or just sit for a while and scrap.  This equipment until now has been free to use, but as you could understand there is wear and tear and the need for maintenance.  For these reasons amongst others, we have decided to charge what we think is a very fair flat rate of $5 per person to use specific workshop equipment, or to sit and crop with their own stash and have access to shop equipment and staff expertise.  This of course includes tea, coffee, hot chocolate and use of amenities.

 

I think that just about covers everything. If I think of anything else, I will just have to do another blog!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Just a quick post today, as it is CHRISTMAS EVE & there is lots to do before Santa comes tonight.

We have settled in to our brand new shop at 402 to 404 Main Rd. A very BIG thank you to all our helpers, including, Paul, Judy, David, Fiona, Andrew, Julie, Craig, Stacey, Sue, Jenny, Lisa, Madeleine,Jill & John, and anyone else i have missed. The move went smoothly, and the new Imagination Factory is looking FAB.

A sad goodbye to Stacey, who leaves us to welcome baby no3, who is due to arrive next month, and a warm welcome to Sue, who has already had a wonderful first week with  us working at the new store. Welcome Sue.

There's lots in store for The Imagination FActory for 2009, so stay tuned.
